Founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, Kartell took its first steps to produce the original design that would symbolize the ‘Made in Italy’ label in the first years. It brought a new approach to materials by collaborating with designers and architects such as Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Antonio Citterio, Ferruccio Laviani, Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola, Mario Bellini, Alberto Meda and Vico Magistretti, who were responsible for the products symbolizing the brand in a short time. Kartell demonstrates mastery in examining, manipulating and enriching materials and continues to make a difference with its unique style by bringing unprecedented solutions to the world of design!

Kartell is commemorated for being the first company in the world to design and manufacture using polycarbonate in 1999, thanks to years of research and revolutionary innovations. It was La Marie, a completely transparent chair with a modern, minimalist design that paved the way for Louis Ghost, which is still one of Kartell’s bestsellers today. From this moment on, the company discovered and developed the theme of transparency that makes it unique and original, and continues to produce with the use of new technologies and high-performance materials that make this possible.
